After months of community planning, it all happened on Sunday 8th November at 11am.
Over 200 people took part in our evacuation drill. See our Facebook page for more photos and videos... & join our group. Check out this story in the Herald Sun Leader.
With 60% of the former Woollen Mills site not yet subject to VCAT planning approval, the developers now have to abide by new safety rules on planning near Pt Gellibrand Major Hazard Facilities.
Captain Bill Korevaar spoke about shipping safety and Colleen Hartland MP spoke about 3 major incidents she had been involved with in Melbourne’s West.
We had great help too:
•12 awesome marshals keeping us safe
•25 people delivered 6000 flyers
•2 street stalls the last two Saturdays
•6 volunteers will have leafleted 3 stations
•80 posters have been put up around Williamstown
•Many emails to our list and countless updates on social media.
•PLUS a four hour training session for 9 marshals
•
Just before the Community Drill the Planning Minister Richard Wynn commenced a Major Hazard Facility Advisory Committee.
A discussion paper will be released in December and we will be encouraging people to make submissions - more information on the website.
